About Dot Mart
The Journey of Dot Mart started from Chittagong district of Bangladesh, in January 1917. The beginning may be difficult for everyone, I was no exception. I was helpless to accept the biggest business loss of my life. I could not think what to do. My mind was also very bad, at that moment my ender Sumondi ( Abu Musa) brought me from Dhaka to Chittagong to give me some peace. I was only married for a year then. My wife was pregnant then. So I decided to stay in Chittagong for some time.
One Afternoon, I was walking around the house and suddenly came across a small shop. There were three Schools around the shop. My mind said it would be better to take the shop, my wife and Shali were with me that day. To make an agreement to take the shop, while talking to the shop owner, I took the shop.
Here is the thing, much smaller than the business I’m losing but I started working with my own hands for that shop, and on the 19th of January, 1917 our shop was completed.
Naming
A name is a name, but everyone likes a meaningful name, and when it comes to a business organization, you have to think about it. So a problem arises while naming. Everyone was giving names but no name was liked.
The funny thing is that my Shali suddenly said DOT word, at that time there were other names but I liked DOT word as a name
But the name was not complete with only Dot, so I thought again what else could be given to Dot. I kept thinking again, and in the afternoon the word Mart came to my mind, now when I combined the two words, Dot and Mart, I saw that the name looked very beautiful. I like it and decided the name of the organization will be DOT MART
The literal meaning of Dot is a small round mark, which is used in the last of the sentence
A Dot after the end of a sentence means the beginning of a new sentence, so we can assume that the Dot is an indication of a new one, we can also consider the Dot as an update because when something ends, a new one arrives.
So we can consider DOT as an Update
Mart is a noun, it means a trade center or market
